On July 20, 2026, a three-Judge Bench of the Hon’ble Supreme Court disposed of a writ petition under Article 32 of the Constitution challenging the constitutional validity of the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (“APAAR”) Scheme,  an initiative by the Ministry of Education that assigns every student an “Aadhaar-linked, Digital Academic Identifier”.
